Nothing like a good ole’ fashion top 10 list to start off a Thursday. I will warn you in advance, the weekend is fast approaching, and this list will make you thirsty. It’s time for some adult beverage’s friends. It’s time for The Top 10 best hard seltzers for Keto.

MOST OF THE BEST HARD SELTZERS ARE BUILT THE SAME

Alcohol can be a struggle when you’re on Keto but with the recent explosion in Hard Seltzers on the market it has gotten much easier to head to a bar with your friends and not have to do shots all night. This mix of carbonated water and natural flavoring is low in carbs, low in calories, while being high in flavor.

There are some minor differences between brands, but overall, they are basically the same in what goes into each can. If there are key differences, we will point them out. We haven’t tried all of them personally but have used reviews and others experiences to fill in the gaps.

A good point to remember before we get to these weekend starters is when in doubt a hard seltzer at a bar is a good choice when all else fails. The most I have seen in a can is 4 carbs. That’s not the end of the world compared to the average 10 carbs in popular coolers.

THE TOP 10 BEST HARD SELTZERS FOR KETO

10: High Noon – This independent company has become popular with their 4.5% seltzer. They are very well known for their vast array of flavours such as pear, cranberry, and guava. Each serving is only 100 calories but does contain 3 grams of carbs. We haven’t tried these personally, but people are obsessed with some of the more unusual flavors putting them on the list.

9: Vizzy – Owned by brewing giant Molson Coors, Vizzy was one of the first seltzers I tried when starting keto. At only two grams of carbs, I didn’t think I could lose. They have a huge flavor profile with things like Blueberry Lemon, Pineapple Mango, and Blueberry Pomegranate. The alcohol content is 5% for 100 calories per can. Vizzy contains only 2 grams of carbs.

8: Truly – This independent distributor has produced some of the best tasting seltzers on the market today. Flavors such as Wildberry, Fruit Punch, and Lemon Tea set them apart from the others. They boast a calorie count of 100 with 5% alcohol. They also have two flavors that come in at a whopping 8%. Even as a Canadian that is strong.

CORONA MADE THE LIST OF BEST HARD SELTZERS

7: Corona Hard Seltzer – Let’s just look at the flavors to start out this staple brand in Mexican restaurants. Corona Seltzer has flavors like Watermelon Lime, Spicy Pineapple, and Citrus Lime. All things that go wonderfully with a nice keto friendly fajita plate. These unusual flavor combinations are only 100 calories with 4.5% alcohol content.

1 and 2 side by side!!!!

6: Bud Light Seltzer – This is one of two entries on the list for mega-brewer Anheuser-Busch. Their line of seltzer’s is standard with things such as watermelon, cherry, and cola all coming in at 5%. What sets them apart from others that are similar is, of the 2 grams of carbs, less then 1 of those is sugar. As someone who is very strict about sugar intake this was very important to me. Also, they taste delicious.

5: Smirnoff Vodka & Soda – 4.5% alcohol, 90 calories, and 0 carbs. Yep… zero carbs. Sporting flavors such as Strawberry, White Peach, and Raspberry I’m going to try these for the first time this weekend. Online reviews say if you like Smirnoff products you will love this hard seltzer newbie.

ENTER MICHELOB TO THE SELTZER GAME

4: Michelob Ultra Seltzer – With the field becoming this crowded you must wonder how a product with 2 carbs owned by a massive brewer in Anheuser-Busch could be this high on the list. It comes down to flavor. Michelob Ultra is leaps and bounds ahead on low carb beer, and it turns out seltzer as well. They also get additional props for being in that 90-calorie sweet zone and using only organic flavoring.

3: Nutrl Vodka Soda – We haven’t had a chance to try this yet, but one of our good friends on keto had quite a wild night with these all-natural 5% seltzers. The nutritional information looks great too with no carbs, no sugars, no preservatives, and no additives. All this is packed into flavor combinations such as grapefruit, pineapple, and mango.

2: Local Brewers – Some of the best seltzers we have tried are prepared by local brewers to us. Brands such as Colliding Tides out of PEI, and Nova Scotia brewed Brave Seltzers. You would have a hard time getting those specific ones, but our point is to check with your local brew shop. See what they have. You might find a regional flavor that becomes your new favorite.

THE LONG REIGNING CHAMP SURVIVES IN KETO LAND

1: White Claw – it would have been romantic to place the local brewery in the number one spot, but the fact is White Claw is the king or queen of seltzers for a reason. Brewed by the same company as Mike’s Hard Lemonade this seltzer has all the flavor with none of the carbs. There are more flavors than you can account for all coming in at 5%. White Claw was one of the first on the scene in 2016 and remain dominate with over half of the hard seltzer sales in the United States in 2019.

Long live the claw. Bill
