Today we explore my personal keto top 10 ingredients and products that get me through the day. These are the items I rely on time and time again to keep me on the right path. Why is this blog necessary?
Well… of all the questions we get in our day to day lives and on the site; how we do keto is still the biggest one. People seem to be smartening up to the fact that we don’t live on bacon and eggs, but not having that stereotype to fall back on has created this question.
I figure today I can help by showing you some of the common ingredients we use and products we fall back on when needed. I consider this Top 10 all staples in my diet and items I truly need to continue the lifestyle I have so embraced.
Broad Start
10: The Internet – where would I be without the ability to start digging into the misconceptions of keto and find my path? Seriously, it’s a great education tool, but use more then one source. Aside from that very deep look at why I need the internet for keto, it’s normally because I’m searching for recipe inspirations and ideas.
9: Bacon – the old cliché is unfortunately true. I need to have bacon around me. I may not have it everyday or more than once a week, but it’s always cooked and ready in the fridge. From casseroles to an easy breakfast, bacon is a staple in a lot of our cooking.
8: Babybel Cheese – these little morsels of goodness get me through some hungry spots throughout the day. We use other pre-portioned cheese snacks as well, but the most common by far and our go to is Babybel. With less than one carb per round you can’t go wrong.
A Fine Keto Friendly Company
7: McSweeney’s Products – I would go to keto war with this company anytime. Whether you’re in the grocery store or the gas station, their jerky and meat snacks are the perfect keto compliment. They are where we turn for all road trips if we can’t pack something in advance, and I always have a bag of jerky around the house when I’m feeling a little peckish.
6: Protein – this is broad, but most of our keto meals involve a protein of some sort. Be it beef, chicken, or pork. For our lifestyle we do very few vegetarian options so a good high-quality protein on the plate is a must.
5: Immersion Blender – this is a tool more than a product, but an immersion blender or stick blender is the key to smooth dishes and delicious chaffles. A little tip when you’re picking out your blender… go with a higher end model from a trusted brand. When we switched to a Cuisinart model, we couldn’t believe how good the quality was comparted to the cheaper version.
4: Frying Pans – or high-quality frying pans. There is no way I could cook the amount I do without having good tools to use in the kitchen. Your pans don’t have to be top of the line professional chef quality, but something that is non-stick, and durable is a must. We bought a set of three top end Tefal pans that have lasted for almost two years and are essential to our daily routine.

3: Cauliflower – if you had asked me two years ago if cauliflower would be essential to my life, it may have been a funny conversation. The fact is, on keto cauliflower is versatile and useful. It will pretty much take on the taste of anything and if handled correctly can create many different textures in your dishes. Also nice with some keto friendly dip.
2: Cream Cheese – I would guess that cream cheese is the base of over 70% of our recipes. Sorry my lactose intolerant friends. Deserts, casseroles, and sauces all use a healthy glob of cream cheese to add thickness and flavor. I don’t think you would ever find me eating it just is either… wink!
1: Coffee – it may have no nutritional value to speak of and be considered a drug due to the caffeine, but if I’m being honest, I need coffee in my life. I drink it black and have become very picky about what brands I brew. If you ask me to go for coffee, be prepared.
So that completes the list of what I need to make keto work for me. Hopefully you can incorporate some into your own lifestyle or show me some you have been using that I missed.
Thank you all, keto on. Bill
