We made a Costco run last weekend and hit the jackpot! We found Keto Kups. For those of you who are not familiar, it’s little containers of ice cream that only have 1 net carb in them. Remember those little individual sized tubs of ice cream you’d get at the store or at a cafeteria that you ate with a wooden stick? Okay, maybe not everyone is as old as I am, but that’s what they look like.
Who Makes Keto Kups?
The No Sugar Company was founded in 2018 by Brad Woodgate. He is making foods with no sugar. Why? For all the reasons you can find on this website. Not eating sugar gives you more energy, more focus and better brain health. The company uses good quality ingredients with no fillers.
They use a combination of stevia extract and erythritol to sweeten their products so they don’t raise your blood sugar. Besides these Keto Kups, the company also sells drinks, bars, confections and coffee. They also sell a few non-food items like t-shirts and the founder and CEO’s book called “No Sugar In Me.” Check out their website to see what they offer at https://thenosugarcompany.ca/.
How Do Keto Kups Taste?
Now, on to the good stuff: the ice cream. The box holds 4 chocolate individual servings and 4 vanilla. Each unit has 130 calories, 10 grams of fat and 4 grams of protein. It does have 7 grams of sugar alcohols as well as 2 grams of fiber, equaling out to 1 net gram of carbs. So, I wouldn’t eat these every day as your body will burn the sugar alcohols before the fat, but as a treat once in a while it is great.
Ice cream has always been my weakness. When I was little, I would point to ice cream places before I could even talk. When I was pregnant, it was the only thing I could eat and keep down. I love ice cream, so I was both excited and nervous to try this. I was expecting the texture to be icy, but it was nice and creamy. The cold, creamy, silky texture touched my lips and it was a happy moment. My mother-in-law tried it and thought she had gone to keto heaven!
The Only Downside
Now, I will say that there is that aftertaste of sugar alcohol that gets left behind. Some people don’t notice it. It does bother me so I wasn’t a big fan of that. I also got a bit spoiled because we have a mini ice cream maker and it does such a wonderful job and when we make it, it doesn’t have that aftertaste (see the article here). But overall, this product is really good and we will definitely have some on hand for when the craving for ice cream hits!
