OMAD Diet Conclusion

Two weeks down of one meal a day and I can say my OMAD diet conclusion overall is… it was a very positive experience. Does that mean I’m going to keep doing OMAD for the rest of my days? No. Does it mean I will never do OMAD again? No.

Over the course of the last two weeks, I have learned two very important things from this way of living compared to my typical keto lifestyle.

OMAD Diet Conclusion Lessons

1 – I do like larger meals.

2 – you don’t need to eat all day long to feel full.

Larger Meals – I found as I went through the various stages of hunger through the day, I was able to use that one large meal at the end of the day as a form of motivation. I knew I would be coming home to two servings of one of my favorites and a few of my go to snacks on the side.

I didn’t experience the stomach upsets or feelings of being overfull that others complain of. In fact, I was able to eat my calories and still have room for a small treat with the coffee that I so enjoy. Having a meal as a motivation is a crutch to some, but it helped on days when I was hungry.

DON’T EAT ALL DAY

You Don’t Need to Eat All Day – this is a keto ideal as well and something I have gotten much better at, but after two years of keto I found I was snacking again and relying on having something in the fridge to carry me through. It turns out that feeling had nothing to do with hunger and was just boredom.

Sailor wishing I would stop talking about OMAD

Looking at my tracking sheets over my two weeks it turns out days I was on the road and busy at work I was never hungry. The days I was chained to my desk or extremely stressed were the days I wrote notes about hunger and stomach issues. That leads me to believe my brain was the one sending those signals, not my body needing nutrients.

OMAD DIET CONCLUSION ISSUES

I didn’t experience any health issues from OMAD. Other then what felt like keto flu on the first few days everything was normal after I started hydrating more and balancing my electrolytes. That is a fancy term for taking in more salt by the way.

The only real issue I experienced was more social. Not eating throughout the day really threw off my routine and that of Wendy’s. On the weekend we haven’t been able to do our chaffle and whip cream tradition or head out for a treat.  Everything had to wait until my eating window opened.

OMAD DIET QUESTIONS

Another problem is one I experienced often with keto. Questions. People at my work, people in my social circle, and people in general asking why I was doing OMAD or spouting off with theories about why it’s bad for you.

I’ve never been good at dealing with those situations as these people are coming at you from a place of bias towards something. They often don’t have an open mind and are using the limited information they have to try and educate you. I shut those interactions down very quickly which creates some not so pleasant times.

OMAD DIET CONCLUSION: BE OPEN MINDED

That leads to my ultimate conclusion when it comes to OMAD. Read my series and try it… or don’t. It’s completely up to you. You may find some benefits in resetting your body and helping with your keto in the long run. The choice is yours but open your mind to it and see what happens.

As for myself. I look at One meal a day as another tool in my chest. I’ve proved to myself I can easily go 24 hours between meals if I plan properly and don’t let my brain trick me into thinking I NEED food, when in reality… I’m just bored.

I may do OMAD tomorrow or take a break and do it next week. In the end I am a keto guy and those principals of low carb, no sugar is my true lifestyle.
