One of our fastest growing readership is London, England. More and more Brits are trying keto as a way to get healthy. I have always wanted to go to London, as I’m a huge, nerdy history buff. So, here is a blog that has long been on my to-do list – keto in London!
Keto in London for Breakfast
We love diners for their all day breakfasts! It’s so easy to make meal options here keto. London seems to have a love affair with the American diner, so there are lots around the city. One that had really good reviews was The Breakfast Club. They serve the usual all day breakfasts with eggs, bacon, and sausage. Just get it without the hash browns and toast. But what really drew me to their menu were their sides. They have avocados and fresh berries as possible side dishes. Sign me up!
The other one that kept coming up in my searches was The Camden Diner. They also have an all day breakfast as an option. They also have burgers you can add avocado to, as well as hot dogs (again, get without the bun). And, excitingly for me, they have fancy coffees available. Imagine your brunch with a piping hot Americano. Yummy.
Keto in London for Dinner
I didn’t see any restaurants with specific keto options, but there were a couple of places that kept coming up. One is actually a sushi restaurant, which is not typically keto-friendly. Sticks N Sushi has a gluten free menu that is pretty carb free as well. If you look at their specific gluten free menu, they offer some sashimi – which is sushi without the rice wrap. Get it without the lotus chips. And even better, they are a European chain with 8 locations in London!
The Flat Iron is the other place that keeps coming up. Steak houses are a good bet for keto people, but they tend to be expensive. This is a steakhouse that uses a cheaper cut of meat, but packs in all the flavour. They also have sides like creamed spinach and roast aubergine. For us not-so-fancy folks, aubergine is eggplant. And, of course, they have a side salad you can have. Just ask about the sauces to make sure they aren’t filled with sugar.
The Sweet Options
I found a couple of bakeries in London that offer pick up or delivery keto desserts. Yummzy is a bakery that offers keto-friendly brownies, cakes, muffins, donuts, and more! Their cafe is currently closed, and you have to give at least 3 days notice, as they make everything to order. But the macros in their products are available right online where you order. They look amazing.
The other place I found is Romeo’s Bakery. They have a specific keto section on their website. They offer a couple of kinds of cheesecake and a raspberry cake that looks so good. The nutritional information online, but they don’t use refined sugar in their products.
A Final Thought About Keto in London
Obviously, London is a big place and it’s not easy to go from one end to the other just for dinner. But, this city offers some unique options in all areas, so you can pick and plan away. There are always your regular chain restaurants you can “ketofy.” Five Guys is our favourite burger place, as they offer lettuce wraps rather than buns. And, of course, there are fast food options like McDonalds where you can get a quick burger with no bun. But, why keep with the regular options when you can try new things!
