Have you ever not realized how much you’ve missed something until it’s gone? I never realized how much I missed tortilla wraps until we found Mr. Tortilla 1 net carb wraps. Truly keto. I am now obsessed with them! I could eat them at every meal. Spoiler alert – they are amazing.

Each of these little goodies is 4 inches across. They contain a whole 15 calories, 1 gram of fat, 1 net grams of carbs, and 1 gram of protein. In other words, really nothing. We have only tried their multigrain ones, and they don’t have a lot of flavour, but they have the texture of a regular tortilla shell. Apparently, they are also available in pico de Gallo, spicy 3 chiles, and savory spinach flavours. I’m not sure I’m going to be able to give up the multigrain ones long enough to try the others!

Mr. Tortilla Founding

Mr. Tortilla was founded in California by Anthony and Ronald Alcazar in 2012. They are brothers who grew up in a Hispanic household. Tortillas were a part of their regular home life. One day, in 2012, they shared a meal together and ate a massive amount of tacos. This gave them instant guilt and regret. They wondered if it was possible to make a tortilla shell that offered a healthier alternative while still offering the same great texture. Guess what? It was possible, and they did it!

If all of that wasn’t enough to make me love them, they decided to give back to their community. They donate 10% of their profits to charity. They also put aside 10% of their profits for employee profit sharing. Well, that’s pretty amazing.

Can Be Pricey

You can find their products on Amazon. The one downside to this is that it’s a bit pricey up front. We paid almost $40 for them (that’s Canadian dollars). That being said, you receive four packages of them and there are 24 tortillas in each package. That’s a total of 96 tortillas. But wait, can you really eat 96 tortillas before they go bad? Well, yes, but you probably shouldn’t.

We take three packages of them out of their re-sealable bags, put parchment paper between each one, put them back into a ziplock freezer bag, and freeze them for future use. You can put as many as you want into one bag that you feel you will use. They freeze really well and the texture remains good when they thaw out. Then you don’t need to buy any more for a while!

Mr. Tortilla has recipes on their website you can look through. I haven’t gotten that far yet because I’m just enjoying all the things I haven’t had in a while. So far, we have used these tortilla wraps for beef tacos, roast beef wraps, and pulled pork tacos. I cannot stop eating them. When we talk about what we are having for supper or for lunch, they factor in somehow. And, at only 1 net carb each, you can have 3-4 of them guilt free.

Other Products

They also have other products listed on their website, such as multigrain crunchy chips. A serving size is 14 chips, and that serving has 3 grams of net carbs. That would make up a pretty good plate of nachos. We haven’t tried these yet, so I can’t recommend them, but I see them in our future, if they are available in Canada. I’m not a big fan of baked cheese, so these might work better. Speaking of chips, we also plan on using our air fryer to bake pieces of the tortilla wraps. I’ll keep you posted on that as well.

I am a big supporter of Mr. Tortilla now. I’m so glad that Bill decided to get them from Amazon and the price did not stop him. They are well worth it, especially considering how many of them you get. It also makes me happy that they are supporting their work force and charities too. Good work, Mr. Tortilla!
