We made a Costco run last week and picked up Crepini Egg Wraps to try. I’ll be honest, we weren’t expecting a lot from something that has egg whites and cauliflower as the main ingredients. We expected them to taste, well, eggy. We also wanted to verify are Crepini Wraps for Keto?
The Founding of Crepini Wraps
Crepini was started by two industrious people named Paula and Eric who came from Russia to the United States when they were ten years old. On the way to America, they had to stop in France and that was where they were introduced to crepes. They were obsessed from that moment with the delicacy. Both grew up in the States and established a successful business, but they still had their heart set on making crepes. They wanted to develop a healthier alternative for people to enjoy. In 2007, the two started Crepini. Today, according to their website, their wraps are sold in over 6,000 stores.
The Macros Making Crepini Wraps for Keto
The egg wraps are gluten free and dairy free. Each small wrap has 8 calories, no fat, no carbs and 1 gram of protein. The larger wraps have 30 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, no carbs and 3 grams of protein. With numbers like that, why not splurge with the large wrap!
We used the wraps as the shell for a burrito. The wraps are soft and thin, yet easy to handle. They rolled up nicely, not breaking or tearing. We put our burritos in the oven with a bit of cheese covering them and the wrap stayed intact and even crisped up a little. It was delicious!
Crepini Wraps for Keto Burritos and Quesadillas
As always, we made 2 extra servings at dinner so we could take leftovers for lunch the next day. We were concerned they would go soggy, as many wraps do. We put them in the microwave and, voila! The burrito stayed together and there was no gooey, doughy texture. It was as good as it was when it was fresh.
We are now fans of the Crepini Egg Wraps with Cauliflower. We plan to use them for sandwiches, quesadillas and, of course, the next time we have burritos!
