We were in our local keto bakery last weekend and found some small bags of Kiss My Keto gummies. One was a fish friends and the other was tropical rings. We decided to buy one of each so we could review what they were like. We were hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst. So, here are our thoughts on Kiss My Keto gummies.
Kiss My Keto is a company owned by two gentlemen named Alex and Michael. On their website, they tell a little history about what led them to develop keto-friendly snack foods. They are self-proclaimed sugar addicts who knew they needed to stop eating the sweet treats, but couldn’t pass by a box of donuts. Alex shares on the site that his mother was diagnosed with cancer, and his DNA means that he is at a high risk of developing cancer as well. The quality of his diet is something his life depends on. So, he and Micheal started developing keto-friendly versions of foods you thought you’d have to give up.
Why the Obsession with Gummies?
Not long ago, I did a review on Smart Sweets. Like I said, I used to really enjoy gummies. When we went to Disney World (the last time was in 2016), we would spend almost $100 in the Goofy’s Candy Company. Each of us would get a big bag of candy we would eat at nights in the hotel. Mine usually consisted mostly of gummy candies – Swedish berries, Swedish fish, Coca-Cola bottles, and my favourite, peach rings. So, the love was real and I felt that when I gave up sugar and went on keto.
Unlike Smart Sweets, Kiss My Keto gummies are actually keto friendly. They have no sugar in any of their products. They use Erythritol and Stevia extract instead. Each package has 2 net grams of carbs. So, we felt they were worth a try.
Fish Friends Kiss My Keto Gummies
So, these appear to be a take off of Swedish fish. I enjoyed Swedish fish because they were so sweet and very gummy. Fish Friends, to me, tasted a little too waxy and didn’t have that sharp bite to them. They were sweet, but not the gummy sweetness I remember. Bill was not a fan of them at all. I had traumatized myself with the Smart Sweets, so I didn’t think they were too bad. Although the ingredients are natural, there seemed to be a chemical taste to the gummy.
Tropical Rings Kiss My Keto Gummies
These come in a small bag and are mango, pineapple, and orange flavour. Again, I was very nervous trying these because the last ones I tried were horrible. These were much better than the Smart Sweets, and the nutritional numbers are also much better. They didn’t quite have the chewy texture, but overall, they were okay. The flavour was not as strong as original peach rings, but it was not that horrible, waxy, chemical flavour either. I didn’t hate them.
Comparing Keto to Non-Keto Gummies
Here’s the thing…maybe sometimes you just have to give certain things up for the betterment of your health. Maybe instead of trying desperately to find a keto alternative to gummies, I should just be thankful that I don’t crave them like I used to. I feel proud of the fact that I have managed to give up sugar. It wasn’t easy. I used to eat something and then afterwards think about what I had put in my body. Now I think before I eat – and that’s a great skill to have.
Kiss My Keto works hard to provide alternatives to the foods keto people crave so they won’t turn back to their old ways of eating. I get that, and it’s a good and noble goal to have. I appreciate their efforts. For me, I think I need to accept and be proud of the fact that some things are better left in my past. I should not have been eating the poison that are gummies in the first place. Maybe I need to just move forward and leave the sugar and chemicals I used to take in where they belong – in my past.
