Happy birthday, America! Your neighbours from the north would like to celebrate you today. We have a confession – we are a bit jealous of some of the keto companies you have! I just did a blog on the Canadian keto companies we are proud of in this part of the world, so it just seems right to do a list of our top envious American keto companies to celebrate your special day.
American Keto Companies for Snacks
Atkins Endulge – These are keto-friendly (and obviously Atkins-friendly) treats for when you are craving a sweet snack without all the sugar. Some of these items are available in Canada, but there are some I haven’t seen here in rural Nova Scotia. I especially want to try their chocolate peanut candies, as I used to love M&M’s!
Lily’s – If you have read our blogs, you know that we love, love, love Lily’s chocolate. It is the one chocolate that I find doesn’t have that bitter aftertaste. Lily’s founder, Cynthia Tice, started making the sugar-free chocolate in 2010. They have chocolate chips, which we use for our mouth-watering chocolate chip cookies. And if we are feeling the urge for a good old chocolate bar, they have those too. My favourite is their salted caramel milk chocolate style one. You can eat a half of a bar (they are huge) for only 4 net grams of carbs. They get me through some tough times!
High Key is an American company that specializes in sugar-free, taste-heavy cookies. I stumbled upon their chocolate chip mini cookies in Costco and I became an instant fan! These cookies taste, to me, like a small Chips Ahoy cookie and they used to be my favourite. They are crunchy and delicious, with no bitter aftertaste. And a serving has just 1 gram of net carbs!
Keto Condiments and Baking Ingredients
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the big name of Heinz for condiments. They have sugar-free options in so many different areas. Of course, they make cheese, so those are good for keto. They have certain mayonnaises as well that are high in fat and low in carbs. This does not include my previous go-to, Miracle Whip. They have salad dressings that are also low in carbs. But, they also own the Jell-o products. Now, these sugar-free options I haven’t seen in my area, so I am a little jealous of all the American options. They have instant pudding mixes as well as Jell-o options that can be incorporated into a keto diet.
Keto and Company is from the Boston area and they have tons of options for mixes. They do brownie and cake mixes that are keto-friendly. The founder, Ted Tieken, is a keto advocate who manages his chronic pain through a keto lifestyle. His goal is to make keto baked goods more available and accessible to people who are busy.
G. Hughes Sugar Free BBQ Sauce is a popular one in our house! As soon as summer starts, we break out the BBQ and this is our sauce we use on all our food. It’s delicious and has only 1 net gram of carbs in a tablespoon. Full disclosure, I also use it for dipping in the winter time for that little taste of BBQ heaven.
Know Brainer Foods is an American company that was founded by Shari Leidich. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and learned that food was the key to healing her body. They have a coffee creamer that is a French Vanilla flavour that I would love to try. Unfortunately, I haven’t found it here in Canada yet.
American Keto Companies for Dinner Ingredients
The Folio Cheese Wraps are so good and easy to use. They are 100% cheese that are formed into a circle to be used as a wrap. They add so much taste and only 1 net gram of carbs. We love these for our donairs and BLT sandwiches!
Rao’s has a marinara sauce that is amazing. The sauce originated in a New York Italian restaurant and it was so good, they bottled it for people to buy. It is made with quality ingredients with no fillers (including sugar). I hunted for ages for a low-carb marinara sauce that tasted good. I was hesitant to buy Rao’s because it was expensive. Finally, I broke down and bought a bottle. I will never go back. The taste is definitely worth the money.
Finally, we have Mr. Tortilla. These were founded by a family in California and I am so happy they created these! With only 1 net gram of carbs per wrap, they are a tasty, convenient way to enjoy keto-friendly burritos, tortillas, and tacos. I also enjoy them with just some roast beef, cheese and mayo. We did a review on these earlier this year, and I encourage you to try them out. They are a bit pricey, but worth every penny!
