Bill and I have been working night and day on this new keto magazine.  We have partnered with Amazon to publish 4 magazines this year – one a quarter.  We used to buy magazines all the time for their recipes and their information.  But, the magazines were expensive and they were usually geared towards people who were just starting keto.  How many times can you pay to read about the proper keto macros?  We thought we could do better, so here we are!  Here’s a little preview of what you can expect on budgeting on keto.

Budgeting on Keto for Beginners

One of the articles in the magazine focuses on the expenses associated with starting keto in the beginning:

“Starting keto can be tough, especially on the wallet.  Switching from burning carbs to burning fat means changing the way you eat, and that means changing what’s in your fridge and pantry.”

We look at the essential ingredients you will need for cooking at home and making the delicious meals and desserts that are high in fats and low on carbs.  Things like almond flour, cream cheese, and sweeteners.

We also look at the essential cooking equipment that will make your life a little easier starting out.  You don’t absolutely have to have any of them, but they do make cooking a bit more fun.  Oh, and don’t forget the glass storage containers – those things are essential when you have leftovers to heat up in the microwave each day!

Budgeting on Keto for Veterans

In this article, we talk about the balance between saving money and convenience.  Sure, we go to Costco to get our meat and some essentials, and that saves us money in the long run.  But, we also go there and buy cheese that’s already shredded and bacon that’s already cooked for the convenience of it.  As a keto veteran, we know the importance of this give and take.

Budgeting on keto is important if you want to travel!

The most essential part of saving money on keto is planning.  Doing a meal plan, and making a grocery list.

“It’s important to plan ahead for what you want to buy in the grocery store.  It’s all too easy to go in and buy extras here and there, especially if you’re hungry.  You likely noticed that you only shop the outside aisles.  All the canned goods and packaged goods are in the middle aisles.  Stay on the outside and you’ll be fine.  “

Budget Keto Road Trips

If you read our blog, you know we are fans of road trips!  I love to plan them and now finding restaurants that will keep us on track with keto is a part of that planning process.  This article in the magazine offers some tips on staying on keto and on budget when you travel.

“If you don’t bring your own food, you do need to rely on restaurants, and they make food that tastes good to the masses.  In other words, the food you eat may not be the cleanest keto meals in the world.  But, it is very possible to travel and stay on keto.  You can go back to strict keto when you get home.  There are keto options out there that won’t break the bank.”

Yep, you can pack your own food, but that’s a lot of work.  There are good, easy, and quick options at the service centres you might not have considered.  No – don’t eat the hot dog that’s been there for days.  These are some packaged options that won’t make you sick.

But, the most important part of the road trip is similar to every other day on keto – planning ahead.  The internet is a wonderful thing, and will often have a list of restaurants in an area, along with their menu options.

The Next Keto Magazine Coming

We hope you enjoy this one and decide to also get our next magazine, due out in April.  The next magazine is on farm-to-table keto.  Farm-to-table is a relatively new concept with old roots.  It’s about taking out the middle person and getting your food directly from the source.  You would think this would be cheaper, but is it?  We’ll take a look at this way of eating and how you can make it work with keto.  It will be out just in time for planting a garden of your own!
