While we don’t have a Dennys in Nova Scotia, we have eaten there various times. Unfortunately, a couple of those times were in Niagara Falls in Ontario. The prices were astronomical because, well, it’s Niagara Falls and it caters to tourists. We also ate at one in Las Vegas, and that one was a bit more reasonable, although the atmosphere was a bit dark and scary. However, we’ve been told that Dennys is a popular choice, so we thought we’d take another look. Here’s how you can eat keto at Dennys.

The nutritional information was easy to find and read, which I appreciate. I’ve gone through the menu items and put together a list of the lowest carb options available. I have to admit, some of it looks pretty good!

Eating Keto at Dennys for Breakfast

Dennys is known for their breakfasts, and it is a keto dream! They have several omelets that are under 10 net grams of carbs. Their loaded veggie omelet has 7 net carbs. Their Philly cheesesteak omelet has 8 net carbs. And their ultimate omelet sounds amazing! It has sausage, bacon, bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and cheese. It comes in at 7 net grams of carbs!

You can also build your own omelet. The base omelet has 2 grams of carbs. You can add spinach, sausage, cheddar and Swiss cheeses without adding any carbs to the meal. Their bacon has one carb in it. Their onions, avocado, and tomato each have 1 gram of net carbs. The mushrooms, turkey bacon, and jalapenos have 1 gram of carbs as well. The Pico de Gallo has 2 grams of net carbs. If you want to splurge a little, the peppers and onions combination and the ham has 3 grams of carbs. Mix and match until your heart’s content!

Dennys also has a build your own breakfast option, called the Slam. You can choose 4 items from their list of options. This is great, because you can avoid the high carb items like toast and hash browns. You have a variety of options for eggs. Their 2 eggs have 1 carb, so you can choose how you like them – boiled, fried, or scrambled. Then you can have bacon, turkey bacon, or sausage for 1 carb each. Their grilled ham slice has 3 carbs. This sounds like an amazing option!

Eating Keto at Dennys for Lunch

Dennys has several salads that sound good. They have a house salad. Ask for no croutons with it. They have a Caesar salad, which again you would ask for no croutons. They also have a cobb salad that sounds amazing. It’s listed with potato sticks, but if you hold those, the carb count should be fine. You can choose from a couple of dressings. Their blue cheese dressing has 2 grams of carbs. The Ranch dressing has 1 gram of carbs.

Probably the option I would go for at Dennys would be the build your own burger. Their patties have 0 carbs, so you build from that. Their aged white cheddar and Swiss cheeses have 0 carbs. The mayo and pickles also come in at 0 carbs. The bacon, onions, avocado, jalapenos, lettuce, and mushrooms each have 1 carb. Red onions and tomatoes each have 2 carbs. You can build a pretty good looking burger and stay well under your carb count!

Main Dishes at Dennys

The nutritional information includes potatoes or rice for the main dishes, so it’s difficult to know the exact carb count for them. You can ask your server for specifics, but if you get the meat with a side and no potato or rice, you should be fine. They have sirloin steak, a T-bone steak, grilled haddock, and wild salmon as options. For dinner sides, they have broccoli as an option, which has 3 grams of net carbs. They also have a side of zucchini and squash, which is listed as having 2 grams of net carbs.

A Final Thought on Eating Keto at Dennys

While we didn’t have the best experiences at Dennys, that was many years ago. Their menu certainly looks very keto-friendly. To be honest, I think our bad experiences had more to do with where they were located than the Dennys brand itself. I’m definitely up for giving this another go. It’s now on my road trip list!
