If you know anything about us, you know we love our pizza! Well, we’ve found a new place that offers us some options. Pizza Pizza has been a Canadian pizza chain since 1967. Today, they have over 750 restaurants across the nation. They pride themselves on using Canadian food ingredients. But, can you eat keto at Pizza Pizza?
Finding Pizza Options for Keto at Pizza Pizza
You can easily access the nutritional information on their website. Several pizzas on their menu are actual keto pizza options! Their keto pizzas are on 10” crusts that have a base of coconut flour. One of these crusts has 4 net grams of carbs, 33 grams of fat and 25 grams of protein. A serving is ⅙ of the pizza crust, and they cut the pizza into 6 pieces, so that’s nice and easy.
Their protein pizzas include pepperoni, bacon, and Italian sausage. With the sauce and the mozzarella cheese, each slice has 210 calories, 15 grams of fat, 2 net grams of carbs, and 13 grams of protein.
The pepperoni pizza option is the one I’ve had and enjoyed. I don’t like too much on my pizzas, so this is my go-to. It has pepperoni, sauce, and mozzarella cheese. The pepperoni is cooked over the cheese, so they get nice and crispy. One slice of this has 180 calories, 12 grams of fat, 2 net grams of carbs, and 11 grams of protein.
The pesto margherita pizza has Roma tomatoes, pesto sauce, and parmesan cheese. Each slice has 180 calories, 13 grams of fat, 3 net grams of carbs, and 11 grams of protein.
If none of those tickle your fancy, you can build your own keto pizza. This will require a little calculation on your part. The crust numbers are above. The tomato sauce has 3 grams of carbs in 1 ounce. You’d have to figure out the veggies on your own.
Other Options of Keto at Pizza Pizza
The chicken wings can be keto-friendly at Pizza Pizza. The serving is 5 wings. The ones you want are the classic wings (not breaded). The 5 wings have 510 calories, 38 grams of fat, 1 gram of carbs, and 40 grams of protein. For dips, if you want wing sauce, you are pretty much limited to the Buffalo sauce, which has less than 1 net gram of carbs in an ounce.
Sides at Pizza Pizza
The only side you can adjust to make it keto-friendly here is the Caesar salad. With the Caesar dressing, it has 11 net grams of carbs. That is with the croutons, so if you get it without those, it would make it more reasonable. I’ll be honest, I’ll stick with the pizza!
Eating Keto at Pizza Pizza
I really enjoy the pepperoni pizza at this take out place. The crust is brought in by Unbun – a Toronto company. The crust is frozen, and you can certainly tell. That being said, if you are looking for a pizza from a franchise, this is a great option. It’s not that different from the regular pizzas you get from the restaurants.
I haven’t tried the wings yet, and that may be an option the next time we get take out. Maybe we’ll split a pizza and get an order of 10 classic wings. I’ll probably bring it home and use the G. Hughes BBQ sauce we enjoy so much. Well, now I’m hungry. I think I feel a pizza night coming up!
