I have not been to a Cheesecake Factory, but I’ve heard about it from the hit show “Big Bang Theory.”  So, I decided to check out if you could eat keto at Cheesecake Factory.  They have a great PDF nutrition guide that shows you what each of their meals, drinks, and desserts have for calories and macros.

For an appetizer, you can get a tossed green salad.  It says it has 10 net carbs in it because it comes with croutons, julienned carrots and beets.  If you even hold the croutons, it would drastically decrease the number of carbs.  You can add grilled chicken or chargrilled steak to the salad without adding carbs.  You can also add avocado, grilled shrimp or grilled salmon for 2 net carbs each.  Their balsamic vinaigrette, blue cheese dressing, Caesar dressing, cilantro dressing, ranch dressing and shallot vinaigrette all have 1 net carb each, so take your pick!

One of the more interesting appetizers would be their Buffalo wings.  The wings have 14 net carbs in the appetizer, but according to the menu, it serves 2-4 people.  If you ate ¼ of the appetizer, you could enjoy for about 4 net carbs.  If you are feeling adventurous and wild, add a bit of blue cheese dressing for an extra carb.

Keto Friendly Drinks

The Cheesecake Factory also has some keto-friendly adult drinks available.  The Well-Mannered Dirty Martini does not have any carbs.  A glass of sparkling wine has 4 carbs.  A glass of white or red wine has 5 carbs.  A bottle of their light beer has 6 carbs.  You can also get a shot of hard liquor that does not include carbs (like vodka or rum) with a diet soft drink and not worry about adding carbs to your meal.  While we are on drinks, of course the healthiest choice would be water, but what’s the fun in that?

Did someone say cheesecake?

Their coffee has 1 carb – I’m not sure why.  Usually coffee is carb free, but 1 isn’t a big deal.  Their double espresso also has 1 carb.  The cold brew iced coffee has 0 carbs, as well as their teas.  But beware the Skinnylicious options.  Their Skinnylicious long island iced tea has a somewhat doable 6 carbs.  The Skinnylicious Cosmo has 9 carbs.  They may be low in calories, but they are not so low in carbs.

Eat Keto At Cheesecake Factory with Breakfast

The Cheesecake Factory offers all day breakfast options.  Breakfast is a keto person’s dream come true.  Their bacon and eggs meal has 7 carbs.  The eggs and grilled ham has 4 carbs.  They have a California omelet that has 8 net carbs that looks so yummy.  It includes avocado, mushrooms, green onion, tomato, garlic, shallots, three cheeses and is served with sour cream.  The spinach, mushroom, bacon and cheese omelet has just 6 net carbs.  Or, and this is a game changer, you can make your own omelet!   Here are the carbs for each available ingredient in the omelets:

  • The omelet itself – 2 carbs
  • Bacon – 0 carbs
  • Ham – 0 carbs
  • Swiss Cheese – 0 carbs
  • Avocado – 0 net carbs
  • Cheddar, Jack or Fontina Cheese – 1 carb
  • Mushrooms – 1 net carb
  • Asparagus – 1 net carb
  • Green onions – 1 net carb
  • Spinach – 2 net carbs

If you have lots of carbs left in your day, you can also splurge with roasted peppers, bell peppers, or red onions, which each have 3 net carbs in a serving.  Omelets usually come with a side of potatoes, but you can substitute slices of tomato as a side.  They have 3 net carbs in them.

Other Options

If you’re not feeling the breakfast options, you can certainly adapt some of their main dishes.  You could get any of their plain steaks without the potatoes.  You could also get either the grilled salmon or herb crusted filet of salmon without potato.  The bacon-bacon cheeseburger, old fashioned burger, or classic burger could also be keto-friendly without the bun.  Just stick to mayonnaise as a condiment.  For sides, they offer green beans (5 net carbs), sauteed spinach (6 net carbs), broccoli (5 net carbs), grilled asparagus (5 net carbs) or a green salad (4 net carbs).  I’m not sure if they will substitute potatoes for an extra side, but it’s worth asking!

The one downside?  Not one of their famous cheesecakes are keto-friendly.  Sorry, you’ll have to bring your own dessert that doesn’t blow out your carb limits.  The rest of the meal sounds amazing though!  The closest Cheesecake Factory to me is in Ontario, a good 26 hour drive away.  Guess it will have to go on my list of places to try once we are able to travel again!
