Bill and I were married long ago – before I had ever heard of keto. But we were watching TV one evening and the bride was obsessed with fitting into her ideal wedding dress and it made me wonder; what if we’d been doing keto when we got married? Would we have been able to make it work? Cue dream sequence, fuzzy vision here. Let’s plan a keto wedding.
Starting Off a Keto Wedding
So, at our wedding, we had finger foods and not a full dinner. If we continued with this, it would be easy to do keto. We would just offer cheese plates, meat plates and a variety of nuts. But what if we got all fancy and had the complete meal? For an appetizer, I would go with the broccoli salad we like. You could do a Caesar salad, but we’re being fancy, remember?
For the main course, it would be easy enough to offer a meat dish like steak or fish. We could have steamed cauliflower and asparagus as side dishes. I’d go for an alfredo sauce because I always spill my food and I’d be wearing a white dress. You don’t want a marinara sauce showing up in pictures!
Dessert at a Wedding is Very Important
And for dessert? Hmmm, I would say a variety of options like chocolate tarts topped with whipped cream or a chocolate mousse topped with whipped cream. Or maybe have a chaffle station with strawberries, Lily’s chocolate chips and blueberries as toppings – with, of course, whipped cream. Oh, that sounds amazing. Now I’m excited.
Our wedding… yes that’s a wrestling ring… and yes it’s a story for another time.
At a wedding, you must have a cake, and dealing with cakes made with almond flour, which tend to be denser and flatter, can pose a trickier challenge. We have done several cake recipes so feel free to use one of those. But you could do a chaffle cake with whipped cream and berries. Although that might interfere with my chaffle bar. I’d be more tempted to go with a cheesecake with a keto-friendly crust and topped with – you guessed it – whipped cream.
Dance the Night Away at a Keto Wedding
At our wedding, we had a dance and we all ordered pizza. I was out of my white dress by this time so no pizza sauce disasters occurred. We could still order pizza if there was a place nearby that had keto-friendly pizza options. We could also order something else, like burgers with no buns. Personally, I think I’d still be at the chaffle bar…
So, I think planning a keto wedding would definitely be doable, even if you are using a caterer. You should have enough options that your guests would enjoy themselves as well, even if they aren’t on keto. And, hey, think how good the keto you will look in the photos!
