If you’ve been in a supplement store that sells protein bars and powders, you’ve probably come across the brand name Quest. Well, come to find out, they also have sugar-free alternatives to candy, such as peanut butter cups. You know we had to try those! Bill and I used to be big fans of the Reese’s peanut butter cups. Those are definitely NOT keto friendly. What about the ones Quest makes? Are Quest peanut butter cups keto?

Where to Find Quest Peanut Butter Cups

We first picked some up at Costco. But once we had them, we started seeing them everywhere. Here in Canada, Quest sells them at Sobeys grocery stores, Loblaws grocery stores, and Walmart. Last weekend we went for a motorcycle ride and found them sold in packages of two at a small service station convenience store!

Information About Quest

The information about the company is listed on their website. Their mission is to make the foods you crave work for you, not against you. In 2010, the first Quest protein bar was created in Ron and Shannan Penna’s personal kitchen. This was a big hit with friends and family. From there, they started selling their protein bars at trade shows.

In 2014, they launched the Quest protein chips and protein powder. In 2015, they started selling their products in grocery stores. And, in 2019, they joined with Simply Good Foods Company to broaden their product selection and market.

But are Quest Peanut Butter Cups Keto?

They sure are! Each package holds two peanut butter cups. The two cups have 11 grams of protein, 15 grams of fat, and 1 gram of net carbs. The sugar alcohol they use does not spike your blood sugar, so that’s an added plus. With anything that includes sugar alcohols, you should eat them in moderation, but having two of these as a snack when you’re craving something sweet is a-ok.

Do They Taste Good?

They really do! I’ll be honest, I don’t like a lot of Quest’s products because they are protein based. I am not fond of protein bars at all. To me, they all taste like chalk. I’m also not a big fan of the protein chips. To me, they are just too salty. But these peanut butter cups, they are amazing.

The cups are covered in a dark chocolate which is slightly sweetened, but it doesn’t make them too sweet. This pairs really well with the peanut butter, which is smooth and creamy. I’m going out on a limb here and saying that I like them even better than Reese’s peanut butter cups.

A Final Thought

I’m not a big one for substituting food I used to eat with keto-friendly food. I enjoy finding new combinations and new flavours so it doesn’t make me crave the food from my past. If you are interested in seeing some of our favourite sweet treats, you can purchase our desserts recipe book.

But I’m finding that the more I branch out, the more things I’m finding that may start out as a substitute, but soon become something I enjoy just for what they are. Quest peanut butter cups are one of those foods. My tastes have changed a lot since I’ve given up sugar, and these offer just the right combination of sweet and creamy.
