Vegas, baby!  We went to Vegas about 10 years ago to see my favourite band, Motley Crue.  We had so much fun!  I’ve been wanting to go back ever since.  Hopefully, we will get there in the next five years or so.  That being said, we are now keto, so I need to do a little research on where and what we can eat before we go.  This leads us to the question, how do you eat keto in Vegas?

Restaurant Search for Keto in Vegas

When I googled keto restaurants in Las Vegas, there were a lot of options.  I focused on the ones that specifically mention keto and make it easier for us to track what we eat.  The first one on the list was Protein House.  They have breakfasts, which are usually easier to transform into a keto meal.  Omelets are our happy place.

They also offer a collard green wrap instead of buns for their burgers.  Their burgers look tremendous and use “organic, grass-fed bison.”  Most importantly for me, they list their calories, protein, carbs and fat in each menu item.  That makes it much easier to be confident that you are staying on track.

Some Other Possible Options

Next on the list was Guilt Free Glutton.  They had some good reviews, but I didn’t see where they made it easy to keep track of exactly what you were getting. There are protein bowls that are available with zucchini noodles as a base, so that sounds exciting.  They also have fish tacos that use a lettuce wrap.  I wouldn’t dismiss them, but I think you would need to go in and ask some questions.  It’s not a place where you can just plan your meals in advance of your trip.

Greens and Proteins is one that would be on my list.  They have lots of breakfast items, including scrambled eggs and frittatas.  Their turkey broccoli and fontina frittata looks so good and they list it as having 7 carbs.  Yes, they also list the calories, protein, carbs and fats in each menu item.

If you don’t want breakfast, they have grilled buffalo chicken strips that are only 5 grams of carbs.  They will also serve their tacos in a lettuce shell which would bring down the carbs significantly.  Here you can also build your own meal and they list the carbs in each option, including the sauces.  This would definitely be a good place to check out in Vegas if you are on keto.

Eat Keto in Vegas at Rachel’s

Rachel’s Kitchen makes a valiant effort to bring in the keto folks.  They offer a full-day breakfast.  If you indulge in some drinks the night before, this might be a great place to, umm, dry out?  They offer a build your own omelet that looks amazing.  They also promote that they do lettuce wraps instead of wheat or corn based products like buns.

The last one I’m going to talk about here is The Protein Source.  I was excited to find this one because they have a little label beside each menu item that is “keto-friendly.”  I will give them credit, they also list their macros and it is a good thing they do because what they consider “keto-friendly” is vastly different from my definition.

They have a “keto skillet” on their breakfast menu.  When you look at the macros, it contains 33 grams of carbs!  I take in 20 grams a day at my max.  They have a protein bowl called “Keto Life” that has cauliflower mash as the base and it has 20 grams of carbs.  Well, that’s my day of eating.

Buffets Will Help You Stay Keto as Well

In addition to these restaurants that are targeting keto enthusiasts, you have hundreds of options with buffets and steak houses.  When we went to Vegas, we ate at the Excalibur Hotel’s buffet restaurant.  Oh my goodness!  The variety of options was almost too overwhelming.  The food, for a buffet, was good quality.  You could easily build a keto meal from the options these buffets provide.

Now, that was before COVID, so I’m not sure what they have adapted at the buffet restaurants, but if it is a quarter of what they used to have, you’ll be good.  And, let’s be honest, most people going to Vegas are less concerned with where they eat and more concerned with where the next keto-friendly cocktail is coming from!
